(1) Recruit assessments

  • Each recruit will be asked to complete an online survey on a computer supervised in the workplace.
  • The survey is a very simple process.
  • A trusted senior staff member administering the survey, will click the start button
  • The applicant will be presented with a screen with four words from which they are required to choose one that best describes themselves. A dictionary explaining each word is provided as standard.
  • When they have chosen a word is when the next question will appear.
  • This continues until the survey is complete.
  • This simple survey takes on average, about ten minutes to complete.

CQE analyses surveys submitted immediately to the manager.

It is important for carers to know that it is not a test and there are no winners or losers. You are simply ensuring that those employed will understand  the care culture.

It’s also important for managers to know that the surveys cannot be rehearsed, coached or given to someone like the answers to an exam as questions are automatically presented randomly every time it’s used.

CQE Devices

(2) Safety Certificate.

To obtain a Care Safety Certificate a manager must arrange for all carers to be surveyed which is best performed at handover over several shifts. CQE will produce a certificate showing the homes safety percentage. This is calculated by the sum total of your carer surveys, which reflects the safety level of your care culture.

A PAR rating of 70% is established as the minimum safety level of any care culture and the continued use of surveys will allow you to demonstrate continual improvements to your Care Home safety.

You can display your certificate in your reception area for guests and visitors to see.

An independent certificate on display will demonstrate that you operate a transparent culture prioritising residential safety.

Staff will begin to take pride in the pyramid scale as they influence status improvements.

Regulators will recognise certificates as evidence of continuing quality improvement and how it contributes to safety.

Your certificate can also be forwarded to your insurance broker as evidence of your continued safety focus.

Each new certificate help to will build your case file as evidence in a PIR (Provider information return).

The surveys of all the staff also provides an opportunity for a manager to receive a staff stress report along with their certifcate. The report shows who is stressed and at what intensity. Vital knowledge when creating rota’s.

(3) Carer stress.

Staff stress is the unseen threat to any team and the CQE Stress report is a clear opportunity to recognise and react to problems before they affect the care culture. Counseling any staff under pressure effectively influences retention and can avoid needing agency to cover shifts due to sickness and abscence. Strong cultures realise a greater unity within staff teams and shifts will be covered through goodwill even at short notice.

(4) Safe rota creator – creates safe shifts to populate existing payroll systems

Only a manager can view the safe rota screen. Once a manager has approved the rota as safe it can be used to confidently populate the standard rota/payroll system you are already familiar with.

We show you how to use this tool so that you will can quickly discover the impact on your culture as each shift becomes safer.

The CQE builder allows you to swop and change to end up with reliably safe shifts but it does not replace your current rota system it informs it. No radical system changes are necessary to build a safe culture with CQE

The safe rag rota tool is colour coded, indicating if a shift you have created is safe. If it is it all green, the shift is safe but if it is dominated by red, the shift isn’t safe and you’ll need to change it.

Ultimately your rota should be dominated by greens, speeding up the rota creation process. Green rotas demonstrate, your continuing quality improvement becoming evidence of strong leadership and management. You will be able to populate rotas with established ‘safe staff’ at the touch of a button.

 (5) Executive reports

Monthly reports not only show trends but the health & risks the carer surveys expose. This is important as it enables managers to focus on areas of need before things ever become a issue.

Care groups interested in growth through acquisition are also able to survey the staff in homes of commercial interest as part of due-diligence.

Acquisition funding is better supported with independent risk assessments.

The outcome of the newco surveys will expose their actual safety level becoming independent evidence in the negotiation of the SPA multiplier.

The cultural health of homes in large and growing organisations can be vulnerable to remote leadership. The CQE individual reports engage close governance increasing the protection of capital investment and trading continuity.

Taken together,  CQE tools and systems empower care leaders and managers to conceive, create and monitor care quality ecosystems with a sense of certainty and confidence hitherto unattainable.

As you add more services not only does the business become stronger the evidence accumulates as evidence for CQC inspection & regulators.
